The Story:
Big Daddy Don Bennett started coming to Florida Moving people from the northeast back in the mid 80s. He thought he was going to make a living playing music in the early 80s playing the A club circuit in New England but soon found out that with a wife and his first son on the way his day job (moving) was going to have to take precedent. Giving up the band and music was hard to do but it was the right thing. Giving up his passion and soul for 12 years cold turkey. One trip to Florida, Cocoa Beach to be exact, he moved a family who had a whole bunch of friends help with the unload and after it was all over Don was invited come back and party any time he was in the area. Well he did many times and became very close to his new friends. One trip back they brought him to one of the guys' bar where there was an open blues jam going on and knowing that he used to play, the bar owner egged him on to play; and play he did!! With all of these old emotions his soul opened up for the first time in many years. Don vowed that he would always play again for his soul and not be worried about trying to support his family with it. Having enough of the Northeast Don finally moved his own family to Brevard County and held legendary jam sessions and parties at his new house. On two acres with a 1000 square foot bar room over the garage it made for some wild biker parties. Somewhere along the way his buddies started calling him Big Daddy War Bucks but then Big Daddy for short. Big Daddy after a while thought that this was just too much fun. He brought some of his jammin' buddies with him to Bike Week to the camp ground they all stayed at and a great time was had by all!! The next year Big Daddy brought the show to The Cabbage Patch and the jammin' and rockin' is still going on today. A few of the original members have passed and some have moved on to different endeavors. The Big Daddy Bands' core is the same and with the addition of a couple of new guitar and bass slingers the ideals are the same. Rock out, have a blast, let your soul shine make it yours and have fun! Big Daddy is Big sound, Big show, and Big Fun!!
